Picnicker’s worry
RAIN
Our term “picnic” comes from the French word that now has the same meaning, namely “pique-nique”. The original “pique-nique” was a fashionable potluck affair, and not necessarily held outdoors.
The worry about rain during a picnic includes the potential for wet and muddy grounds, discomfort for those attending, and the risk of ruining food, drinks, and other picnic-related items. People often plan picnics on days with good weather, but unexpected rain can be a source of concern.
To mitigate this worry, some picnickers bring waterproof gear, choose sheltered picnic spots, or have backup plans in case of rain. It’s a common consideration for those who enjoy spending time outdoors, especially in places where the weather can be unpredictable.
