Inkling

Inkling : SENSE
83 Inkling : HINT

Our word “inkling” apparently comes from the Middle English word “inclen” meaning “to hint”.

The term “inkling” has a couple of different meanings:

  1. Slight Knowledge or Hint:
    • An “inkling” refers to a slight or vague idea or understanding about something. It is often used to describe a hint or a subtle indication that suggests the presence or occurrence of something without providing a full understanding. For example, “I had an inkling that he might be planning a surprise.”
  2. A Character from Video Games:
    • In the context of video games, particularly the “Splatoon” series by Nintendo, an “Inkling” is a fictional character. In this game, Inklings are humanoid characters that can transform into squids. The game involves colorful ink-based battles where players control these Inklings.

The meaning of “inkling” depends on the context in which it is used, and it can refer to either a subtle hint or a fictional character from a specific video game.
